Having met and fell in love during medical school in Philadelphia, most of Christina and Hugues' family members and friends would be traveling in from out of town for the wedding. With that in mind, we set out to create a thoughtfully planned Philadelphia wedding experience. The Hotel Monaco in Old City served as the hub for the weekend's activities, and set the perfect stage for getting ready and pre-ceremony photos.
For the first look and bridal party photos, Christina & Hugues strolled around the 2nd Bank and Carpenter's Hall with Brittney Raine before heading over to Christ Church for the wedding ceremony. With its gorgeous windows and beautiful light, Christ Church does not require a lot of decor, but we did add two large scale floral displays to the front window behind the alter, and beautiful pew clusters indicating the rows for family.
One of my favorite parts of the day came when Hugues' nephew Nicholas strolled down the aisle giving out high fives. It's always those unplanned moments that steal your heart! After exchanging I Dos, guests lined up for the newlyweds to make their grand exit from the Church.
For the reception at the Horticulture Center, we worked in a palette of dusty blues, whites and gold to create an elegant, romantic atmosphere. Playing with lighting is one of my favorite things to do at the Hort, as it really goes such a long way in the space. Eventions washed the walls in candelight colored uplighting, and we added in mercury glass lanterns filled with fairy lights above the bride & groom's feast table.
To celebrate Hugues' french heritage, we sourced a traditional croquembouche cake which was presented alongside a petite wedding cake for cutting in a Maggpie Vintage lounge. Whipped Bakeshop created the dusty blue wedding cake and also provided macaroons for guests to take home as favors. Guests enjoyed fresh margaritas at the bar as an homage to Christina's roots in Texas.
